PLI’s Fundamentals of Privacy Law 2024 is a one-day program that will give general practitioners, litigators, corporate counsel and transactional attorneys a solid grounding in how privacy rules intersect with other practice areas. The program will also introduce the basics of security obligations for personal information and regulatory enforcement.
Partner Kirk Nahra will lead the opening panel at this year’s program titled “Privacy Law: The Big Picture Overview” from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. The session will present the big picture of US and international privacy. There will be an overview of different privacy regulation paradigms, and most importantly the panel will survey the key definitions and abbreviations that will be used throughout the day. After completing this session, participants will be able to:
- Understand how the US and Europe approach privacy differently and what the similarities are;
- Recognize key terms and definitions and how they vary across jurisdictions and sectors; and
- Identify state and national laws by name and, importantly, the ubiquitous abbreviations and help categorize those laws.
In-person and online attendance options are available.
