Coalition of Services Industries (CSI) hosts the Global Services Summit annually, bringing together senior trade officials, policymakers and business leaders worldwide to discuss current international services and digital trade issues. The theme of this year’s conference is “Expanding Global Services and Digital Trade Opportunities to Promote Inclusion, Sustainability, and Meet National Security Challenges: The Path Forward.” The event will take place on June 24, 2024, in Washington DC.
Partner Neena Shenai will speak on the panel titled “The Impact of Expanding Security Concerns on Trade in Digital Services and Data,” at 5–5:30 p.m. The panel will address the following questions:
- Amid expanding investment restrictions, what is the right policy prescription to promote trade in digital services and resilient supply chains?
- Is it possible to de-risk from China without outright decoupling?
The panelists will debate the trade-offs as the administration prepares to implement major new restrictions on outbound investments, data and AI exports as well as expanded technology export controls.
