Passing of Former WilmerHale Partner Glynn Key

Firm News

It is with great sorrow that we report on the death of our former partner, Glynn Key. Glynn died at her home on Thursday.

Glynn joined the Firm as an associate in 1997, after serving from 1993 to 1996 in the Department of Interior where she was Special Assistant and Counselor to Secretary Babbitt, and Associate Solicitor of the Department. She was promoted to partner in the corporate group in 2001. Glynn practiced with us until 2006, when she became General Counsel for Water & Process Technologies at General Electric.

After leaving the Firm, Glynn went on to make important contributions to both the corporate and public spheres. She served on the governing council of the Miller Center for Public Affairs (a think tank devoted to the study of U.S. national governmental institutions, policies and programs), the advisory board for the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business’ Initiative for Global Environmental Leadership (IGEL), and the Board of Trustees of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation. She also served on the Board of Visitors of the University of Virginia (from which she earned both her undergraduate and law degrees, and to which she was deeply devoted) from 2004 until 2012.

Glynn was a consummate colleague and friend, for which she will always be remembered. Her ability to give constructive advice in a thoughtful and supportive manner enhanced the careers of many other lawyers who had the good fortune to have Glynn as a mentor.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, 501 South Moore Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37412. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995. In lieu of flowers, two educational scholarship funds have been set up: The Glynn D. Key Fund c/o Ridley at the University of Virginia, P.O.
