Bill Lee, current partner and former co-managing partner of WilmerHale, has been named by the Boston Business Journal (BBJ) as one of the city’s 50 most powerful people. This is the second year the BBJ has published its “Power 50” list, with Lee included in both. Lee was selected for his ongoing commitment to his firm, his involvement in the community, and his vast contributions to the world of intellectual property law.

This distinction comes on the heels of Lee being named “Litigator of the Week” by The Am Law Litigation Daily for his lead role representing Apple in its $1.05 billion trial victory against Samsung. Lee—who has tried more than 100 patent cases, both jury and jury waived, to judgment and argued more than 50 appeals before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and other Courts of Appeals—is widely recognized as a leading force in the industry. In 2012, he was one of eight finalists selected by The American Lawyer as "Litigator of the Year." Prior to that, he was recognized twice by The National Law Journal as one of "The 100 Most Influential Lawyers in America" and named an "Outstanding US IP Practitioner of the Year" by Managing IP magazine, among other notable awards.

Lee is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and, in July 2010, he was appointed a Fellow of the Harvard Corporation.

The BBJ “Power 50” was launched in 2011 with the intention to inform a wide-ranging audience about important locally based leaders in various industries. The list of 50 was drawn from more than 90 outside nominations and the BBJ editorial team’s own institutional knowledge.
